Bear Market
March 30, 2009
You wouldn't think that Bear Markets are something that would be advertised in a storefront window on State Street. But on the 1100 block of State, just down the street from Peet's Coffee, that's just what they're doing. The bear is on loan from the Natural History Museum. The storefront window is in a vacant, recently remodeled but never used, commercial space.
All of the shops from Old Navy down to the Going Out Of Business Rug store, and the courtyard restaurant in between, have undergone a major upgrade. But, the bear market economy (and its high price) has made the space difficult to lease.
However, if you're looking for some cheap thrills, there are plenty more preserved animals --and some other interesting science -- on display at the museum. There's also a planetarium and an outside observatory.
Finding the location of the bear was worth three March Edness points.
