Bell and Trash
July 12, 2009

Bell

If that bell in the picture doesn't ring a bell, maybe one of the other bells and whistles around it might. The Where Is It picture was taken from the outside looking in. It just so happens that just on the outside of the outside there is a not-so beautiful, or historic, trash area. We know that when most people see trash and mission bells in the same picture they think Taco Bell, but this particular combo deal can be seen from a parking lot off of Santa Barbara Street. It's between Canon Perdido Street and de la Guerra, just below Our Daily Bread and the Cheese Shop.

You can see the bell from inside, standing next to Marty Blum's favorite elephant fountain in the beautiful courtyard that used to be home to some El Presidio shopping, and now is mostly law offices.

Aside from the elephant fountain, the plaza contains a collection of urns, another bell, and some nice tiles. It's a totally quaint place to take a coffee break and escape from the world. And, when you're done with you paper coffee cup, you can rest assured, knowing that there's a giant trash can out back where you can throw it away.

There were 15 Edhat subscribers who correctly identified the location of the bell behind the trash. The Edhat Dog was asked to pick the winner using her canine instincts. After a bit of tail wagging, she picked SBWatcher as the winner of the weekly t-shirt.
