August 30, 2006 - No Sour Grapes
While Edhat only has a Veggie of the Week, Santa Barbara has a Farmer’s Market every day. With the quality so high and the price so low it’s a wonder that anyone ever buys their produce from the Ralphs-Albertsons-Vons triumvirate. It’s one of those wonders like, why we don’t ride our bikes to work, why we keep watching TV when nothing is on, and why we don’t spend more time working-out.
Thinking to ourselves that we were going to make a habit of it, the dedicated staff of edhat.com was at the Tuesday Farmer’s Market on Lower State Street to buy grapes, tomatoes, nectarines, cucumbers, and apples. We were also there to take pictures and count the number of vendors.
We counted 57 vendors occupying the two blocks of State Street from Haley to Ortega. Five of them were selling grapes. We posted the pictures we took on the edhat.com website. And, we ate most of the grapes before we even got home.
In yesterday’s contest Barksquire was the closest guesser with a guess of 58 vendors with 6 selling grapes. Barksquire wins something that you can’t get at the grocery store or the Farmer’s Market, an Edhat t-shirt.
