August 29, 2006 - Ed Wears Short Shorts

As part of the New Format Edhat, we are shortening the length of the daily page that announces the results of the previous day’s survey and the winner of the contest. Some days, we will also be reporting on other things. Yesterday was one of those days. We went around town taking pictures of interesting things. You can see those pictures by clicking here.

Yesterday, the dedicated staff of edhat.com also dropped some young adults off at Santa Barbara Junior High School. While we were there we did a fashion check. We wanted to see whether, on a school day in August, boys would be wearing short pants.

We observed that there seemed to be two schools of fashion at the school. One school wore knee length surf brands, commonly in stripes and plaids. The other school wore jeans so long that they bunched at the shoes. We found the second school to be more prevalent.

Overall, 27% of Junior High School boys wore shorts on the first day of school. Most contestants guessed much higher percentages. Not Craigaroonio. He guessed 27% exactly, wining him a cool Edhat t-shirt.
