Wasp and Tarantula

My wife and I recently visited Sedona Arizona. It was beautiful! While we were there we took a number of hikes and saw the classic battle between the wasp and the Tarantula. The Tarantula lost and the wasp wasted no time in dragging it away.
We also came across this amazing ribbon type fungus that we have not been able to identify. The texture was soft and it was moist, even in the desert. Is it some form of truffle or fungus? Can anyone out there identify it for us?
