Where is the best place to purchase a glider rocker? It looks like it's ordering on the internet only, I was hoping to find a Dutailier brand and actually sit in one. Appreciate the info.

Baby stores always have them! Try Chicken Little on State St. or that store at the corner of Mission and De La Vina. :)

If it's a patio-type you want, try Home Depot or K-Mart.

Up in Cambria at the Squibb House they sell beautiful and pricey glider rockers. See this link: http://www.squibbhouse.net/rockers.htm Sorry, don't know how to make that an actual link. Anyway, I personally believe they are worth the drive up there, and if I had the $$$ I would have bought one or more by now.

Chicken Little and SB Baby are great local options. But honestly, Craigslist is the way to go. I got a Dutailier rocker w/matching ottoman in mint condition for 100 bucks (versus 400+ new). Just be sure you check the for sale/kid & baby section not the furniture section. They come up pretty regularly b/t 50 and 200 bucks.

I bought mine at Costco 6 years ago and it was such a good buy! I don't know if they still sell them but it only ran around $225 and it has the glider and ottomon. Very well made.

First time I read this, I thought it said "Glider Rocket." Maybe it's time for new glasses?

With the absence of real furniture stores in SB, sitting in one is difficult. Our last one was a leather Dutailier from eBay that I picked up in Calabasas, where there was a show room. PTS, Thousand Oaks, also carried them. We cut out the middleman pricing by buying directly from Furniture Mart, Hickory, North Carolina. Last week we bought a Lane leather glider, swivel recliner for my husband. It will be shipped in 6 weeks. We buy all our major furniture from Hickory. Because of gas prices, and a big shipping cost, they lowered the price for us. It is still cheaper to buy from them and ship, then to pay the middlemen. We have family in TN, so popping over to NC is not a big deal. However, through model numbers and swatches, a company can fulfill your order without you flying out. If this is for a nursery, than call Santa Barbara Baby, De La Vina or Chicken Little for the lower end Dutailier.

I was going to make the same suggestion as Robo. Those rockers at Squibb House are not only works of art but also masterpieces of engineering ... I have sat in them and was sorely tempted to buy an item that I wasn't really in the market for, but if you are ...

Joyful, you were right they are very nice at Mike's Matteress. Unfortunately they carry the bulky L-Z-Boy gliders, I have a really small place so thats why I'm going with narrow gliders. I'm having fun looking! Went to Costco and found some great towels tho. Thank you all again very much. Ed-Hatters are the best!!!!

Thank you 324, my husband is going to see if he can get the ball bearings and fix the glider we have. Our place is so small and the one we have is the perfect size. I really appreciate everyone's help!! =)
