Job Advisor Needed
updated: Jul 27, 2011, 4:31 PM
Hi all,
I have a friend visiting from out of town and she is looking to talk to
someone about working here.
She is deaf and wants to teach/tutor ASL or work within a school system
with the hearing impaired.
Any ideas on where or who to send her to meet?
Thanks in advance!

Tell her to look at the County Education Office's web site, http://www.sbceo.org/. The site has information about schools, districts and job openings.

Try to get the contact info for the ASL teachers at SBCC & shoot them an e-mail. They'd be likely to have some info for her. It's a pretty specific job, though. Might be a while before something opens up.

My sister is also an ASL interpreter and I have heard that deaf pizza night is a fun deaf community event here. I haven't heard her mention it lately so maybe call Rusty's to make sure it is still going on regularly. This link has some local resources and events and mentions a registry for interpreters. www.ilrc-trico.org/deafservices5.html
