Auto Interior Detailer
updated: Jul 22, 2011, 5:20 PM
Can anyone recommend a detail oriented car interior detailer? I have a
convertible that gets dusty in the passenger compartment and it could use
some special attention. I can do a decent job, but if I'm going to pay
someone, then I'd like it to shine.

Save the money and do it yourself. You may need the cash later.

That $10 car wash place at State Street & Ontare Road does WONDERFUL detailing, and for what you get, it's not all THAT expensive. My Alaskan Malamute had a majorly unfortunate..."accident," I guess you could call it...in the back seat of my wife's Volvo, to the point I thought I'd have to report the incident to HazMat. After letting the car "cool down"/detoxify for a week or so with all the windows open and yellow police tape around it, I took it into the $10 car wash place for detailing. A few hours later I got my Volvo back and it was just like brand new. There was no trace of the..."accident," and the car even smelled nice again. Don't ever buy a car with faux velour upholstery if you have a huge dog that likes to eat lots of peaches that fall from the tree in your yard. 'Nuff said.

Perhaps this person has the available funds to get their car detailed. They didn't ask for financial advice. Not everyone lives beyond their means. I have always liked SB Hand Car Wash. They don't come to you, but they are one of the few places in town that does a thorough job without damaging your car. Some of the other places are more expensive and they end up missing basic stuff. Sorry I don't have a rec on someone to come to you, if that's what you're looking for.

Don't listen to 195542. If you want that level of detailing inside your car you are going to pay a heck of a lot more than $10. Much closer to $100 than $10. If you want someone who does mobile car detailing with an extreme attention to detail and for a decent price call Terry Howell at 805-729-7618.

542 here--Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that it only cost $10 to detail my Volvo's interior. I don't know the name of the car was in question, so I referred to it as the $10 carwash, because they only charge $10 for a wash. Of course it goes without saying that detailing is more--something that anyone should be able to figure out. In my case, it was something like $100. They did a job I wouldn't have thought possible.

OP, here: I definitely expect to pay more than $10, but I don't need a mobile detailer. I just want someone who does a thorough job with the right equipment and products and earns the title of "detailer". @544: Is that the place on W. Canon Perdido? Thanks, 628 & Goose, I'll look into those, too.

I'll second 195542's pick, for Wash & Go, on State and Ontare. It's $18 for the inside and out. I'll tell you, for the money, they do an amazing job. Although they do offer a full detail, for $100+ or so, for just the basic $18 price they wash the outside, then inside clean and wipe down your full dash, center console, armrests, windows, vacuum all inside and trunk, all in about 15 minutes. If you just want a really good thorough job, without a full detail, you honestly can't beat it.
