This is my friend's cat - his name is Black Kitty - he is regal, handsome and
independent - He loves to saunter about and come and go as he pleases.

Black Kitty was the name of my daughter's favorite little stuffed animal! We were once strolling down a park path by the East River in New York when my little girl tossed Black Kitty into the water. Her fun lasted about as long as it took to realize that this time we couldn't play fetch, that Black Kitty was Gone. The wailing.was heard for about half a mile. We hustled along side, keeping pace with the current when up ahead we saw a New York City Fire Department tug slowing down to pull alongside a mooring. "Black Kitty is in the water! Here she comes!" we cried. They snatched a net and just like that, Black Kitty was rescued. And went home to have a long hot bath. The gentle warm humanity of this rescue has kept me warm all these years. May your beloved Black Kitty keep you warm too.

What a great NY Black Kitty story. This black kitty is a twin to mine and just as beautiful - mine was feral as a kitten, but now he is the most lovable cat I've ever owned.....

I agree, what a wonderful story STREETPAINTER. I hope your daughter was old enough to remember that story years later when she can truly appreciate how special it is - what a memorable day,

I've been away sick for some days now, and am only just catching up my edhat reading. I don't know if anyone will read this post, Streetpainter, but someone must prevail upon you to make a modest children's book of the story of Black Kitty and the Fireboat.
