I will be interested to see who the community recommends for this! We have accordion-style 'cell shades', which are similar to mini blinds but are not made from slats. Over the years, we have had to replace broken strings many times, and have dealt with the same issue -lifetime warranty but exorbitant cost for shipping and handling! The shipping cost is close to the cost of replacing the shade - go figure. We have grudgingly learned to restring the blinds ourselves, with the free stringing kits from the manufacturer. It is one of my most hated jobs in terms of household repairs... :(.

I second Tri-County Blinds. They've repaired my Del Mar blinds (lifetime warranty) several times over the years right on the spot - no shipping. They're friendly too.

Tri County has been good, reliable for many years, however, in one instance there was a large minimum charge for at home repair that i was not advised about in advance. The repair took three minutes.

I always go to SB Screen & Shade on De La Vina; they do the blinds installations at UCSB adn I've had them do mine in my house. Great work!

Took blind to Tri County. $30 to restring one side, $50 for both I opted to have both done. Much less than I was quoted by another blind store!
