Fiesta Dress
updated: Jul 13, 2011, 10:19 AM

I was wondering if anyone knew where I can get a Puebla dress (brightly colored cotton w/embroidery) in Santa Barbara or Goleta.

Try Melys Fashions on the Westside, we have gone there the last 2 years! they have a huge assortment of this type of dress.

Try the front desk at the Best Western Pepper Tree Inn. Those folks are always dressed up for Fiesta.

Unity Shoppe Thrift shop usually has some for sale around Fiestas time. Good luck :)

Any thrift store, but this time of year they will be pricey. Also, look on Etsy. You can search by locale so you can look for vendors in SB and Ventura, too.

I saw a few inspired Puebla dresses on the sale rack at Anthropologie a couple of days ago. $39 for a Mexican peasant dress is a good deal, so maybe go there and check it out. It's not authentic, but it's a good copy and might be the cheapest you can find with Fiesta coming up.

Contact Kathleen Morales (email:katalinatextiles@cox.net). She has a booth at the Natural History Museum's tribal arts marketplace in December every year, and she has had the elaborate "china poblana" dresses, and other great Mexican traditional clothing, for sale in the past.

If you are still looking for a China Poblana costume for Fiesta, I have a couple for sale. Let me know if you are interested and I will email you some photos.
