Car Fabric Repair
updated: Jul 13, 2011, 9:20 AM
I need a referral for an upholstery shop. The fabric that frames the front windshield on my car has come unglued and is creating a safety hazard on either side. Does anyone know of someone who can repair this? A guy at an auto parts store suggested I go this route. Thanks so much.

There is a guy at Lombard's Auto Sounds that does this kind of work. Lombard's is in downtown Goleta.

I second that. The guy adjacent to Lombard's does great work on sunroofs and car headliners (what your now-hangy fabric is called). He's also reasonable.

263 - He's actually in the parking lot of Lombard's (hence the reason that I said at Lombard's, not next to). If you go to Lombard's and he is not there, you can ask the guys at Lombard's for info. He also does headliners, not just upholstery.

If you don't care how good it looks, you can get a can of spray adhesive and stick it back up.

kragen's (O'Reilly's now), etc has the spray glue if you're up to trying it yourself. works well for small headliner sags.

OP here. Thanks for the suggestions. I did go to Kragen's (O'Reilly's) before I posted. The can of adhesive was large and I think I would do a less than professional job of trying to manipulate it around the fabric surrounding the front windshield. That's when the O'Reilly's employee suggested an upholstery shop. Thanks again.
