updated: Jul 12, 2011, 10:40 AM

I need a mobile cat groomer to do a summer cut for my 2 fur monsters. No bathing is needed.

I would love to find this out also, but I need a company that also does baths.

I have a cat who HATES baths and cat carriers and no matter how delicate I try to be, he hates it.

I need a professional. :)

No cat likes a bath because no cat should be bathed. They clean themselves. When a cat no longer takes care of itself, that's when you know that cat is on its way out.

Quit wasting your money on cat baths.

Can cats do those dust baths like chinchillas? My friend's cat smells so bad because it sweats. People say that cats don't sweat but hers is always sweaty and nasty. It has cat AIDS but other than being sweaty, he's not the least bit uncomfortable or symptomatic. Is a dust bath an option?

192032P - Way to be judgmental. I only do it when I know he is too dirty to clean himself, like when my kids played with him after finger painting. My goodness... misery sure does love company. Lets all try to be happy here.

Neither pointing out facts nor offering helpful advice qualifies as "judgmental"

Allowing kids with paint-covered hands to paint the cat is an example of inattentive parenting and borderline animal abuse.

Now THAT is judgmental.

A good bath for a cat is rolling around in dirt. It will clean their fur. Then a brush and voila, one clean cat.

Only time I've bathed cats is when they have fleas.

IF you want a "clean" answer, ask your vet or a certified pet sitter--they know everyone in associated pet businesses.

Yes, why allow your kids to touch pets if their hands are dirty? NO. Teach them respect for animals.

You can help an aging cat by using a daily grooming tool to remove naturally shedding hair.

This will especially help older cats whose intestinal system can't handle the extra fur. I found my elderly long-haired cat stopped grooming herself because her innards couldn't handle the extra fur.

She then started to mat in the chest area and on the backs of her legs--spots difficult to reach with creaky kitty joints. Occasionally I would have to take her to the vet for a clip. As she got older, these vet trips became stressful and eventually led to other complications. If you have a long-hair cat with especially thick undercoat, consider getting The Furminator, an undercoat removal tool. If I ever have a long haired cat again, I will get one.

My cat gets brushed twice a day--she begs for it--with a Zoom Groom. Soft, rubber nibs on a palm-sized tool. If I get busy and forget, she plops herself down in front of me with a "Miew? Noooww?!!"

Good luck on your search. Let us know who you find.

I have been looking for one of these "mobile cat groomers" myself. My cat is 21 and has been "on the way out" now for over 5 years. I cant bring myself to put him down, but his fur gets nasty matts and I usually just hack away with scissors every couple of days until its more manageable. brushing or combing is out of the question, he's way too old, surly, and furry.

How sad that this person just asked for a referral to a mobile pet groomer and had all this garbage heaped on her! As a person who ran a cat rescue group, I can tell you that there are certainly times cats need baths for reasons other than they're ready to die, ferhevvinssakes! And definitely, there are times certain breeds need to be shaved. I wish I had a good answer, but I'm kind of new here and don't know all the groomers. I did see a van the other day with the sign "Coifed Critters" but didn't catch a phone number. And I've seen other vans of mobile groomers about town, but that's not much help.

Could be the impending full moon brought out some loonies to answer this simple question with a bunch of non-helpful trash.

Sorry, I don't know of mobile groomers, but some comments anywya.
My long hair once got into some oil under a car and needed a bath for that, and once for a gnarly case of fleas. But it is tough for me to keep up with combing out mats, even if I can avoid his jaws & claws and cut the mats through with a scissors. What I'm saying is that cats definitely do sometimes need baths (and a tummy trim). He comes back smelling and looking mighty fine.
Mine is so crotchety that he has to be knocked out in order for the vet staff to do the work, so I have it done as seldom as possible. I take him to Airport Animal hospital for that.

My cat loves getting groomed and taking a bath. I've taken him to Colleen's since he was a little older than a kitten. One thing a groomer can do for long haired cats is trim the hair on the hind legs for "messes". Also called a channel cut.

Jason's Four Paws, get Jason himself at the Montecito
location. Also at Loreto Plaza, San Roque.
So much better than Colleen's for my Himalayan diva
princess.
Just don't let them do a lion cut, unless you like that look. An all-over trim, similar to a puppy cut for dogs looks
much better.
