Can some helpful reader point me to a store in town that sells 'Hello Kitty' items. Bags, shirts, anything with that logo. It automatically cheers up a friend who could use an unexpected smile this week.

I have seen Hello Kitty stuff for sale at the UCSB gift store in the UCen. You might want to call first to see if they still have it.

Asian market on Calle Real in Goleta (Nikka?) has some stuff, mostly tied to candy and snack items as opposed to the clothing items you'd find at other retailers in town. They had some small key-chain type things there and a larger statue the last time I was there (a couple weeks ago).
