My favorite ever is called "the special benedict," it's only available on weekends and you have to ask the right server(s) as it's not even on the regular menu. It's made with fresh basil, diced tomatoes, sautéed jalapeños, country ham (instead of canadian bacon) and I forget what else in addition to the other regular benedict ingredients. Mmmm, my mouth is watering at the thought.

Domingo's in Goleta occasionally has " moe's benedict" with a chorizo/potato mix instead of ham. Yummy!

That sauce does not look like hollandaise.

We make a great one at our house with poached ducks eggs and duck egg hollandaise. Decadent.

Locally, Esau's hands down...everything is fresh and a real hunk of real ham...yum. If you are going to Big For Sure, yes Deetjen's is good, so is the Ventana Inn and Big Sur Bakery...oh hell, who cares what you eat in Big Sur it's freaking fabulous there!!!

Yes, I'll have the triple-bypass special, please? with extra sauce.

244P - You must go way back to remember Tom Esau. When he owned and did the cooking, everything there was so good. It was really a neat place to eat, but you couldn't loiter as it was always full. Great memories.
