My son is coming back from college and is looking for a golf professional who can
help a low-handicapper become better (he's on the college team).

Don Parsons at Twin Lakes is the best golf instructor in the area. He is the best for a low handicap/advanced golfer.

I've had three friends say that GolfTec actually messed them up. They said that after going there their swings (and not coincidentally their scores) got much worse. I've also heard good things about GolfTec, but the fact that three people I know had negative results is enough to keep me away. Golf, the game I love to hate.

Ditto for Don Parsons and his facility at Twin Lakes. Great for low handicap golfers looking to get better.

I agree that Don Parsons and Brent Cole are perhaps the two best instructors in the area. Unfortunately, that means we are pretty slim around these parts for quality golf instruction. If you are a 7 or an 8 handicap looking to get down to a 3 or 4, these guys will be fine for you. But if you are a 2 or a 3 looking to play at scratch or better, you better pay for outside talent.

I've heard great things about Don Longoria but only have experience with Marc Minier. I worked with Marc for about six weeks and he took me from about a 15 handicap to a 10 and his lessons kept me there for many months. Had I the time and desire to keep working at it, I am pretty confident that we could have chiseled away towards scratch. He doesn't retool your swing, he massages it.. reminds me of the equivalent of a soul-surfer of golf. Marc Minier.

GolfTec is in new hands these days. Steven and Trevor are excellent instructors with the video technology to give instant feedback. I was referred there by a couple of very low handicappers in town!

Don Parsons has quite a few young guys getting places. One won the California State, Nick Delio. A few more got into schools like Notre Dame on scholarships after working with him since high school. Parsons is the best instructor for good golfers in town. For those of us who are mid-to-high handicaps, I highly recommend Steve Douglas at GolfTec. The golftec system is very helpful for allowing one to put a feel with a look. But make sure you ask Steve to take you to the range once a month or once in a while as well. It really helps. He's helped me shave quite a few strokes with his easygoing approach and one idea per session. I used to shoot in the mid-90s but now am consistently in the 80s and that is all I need to be happy. Sure I'd love to break 80, but I'm really enjoying the game now.
