Bee Keeper
updated: Jun 04, 2011, 11:10 AM

They just landed so it's not quite so big yet but it's in a tree right next to where we park and I would love it if someone could provide a referral to relocate them :-) thanks!

Call Ian Cronshaw in Montecito 969-1718/ He is the right man and will take care of moving them for free... also has great homemade honey. He may be able to help.

Don Cole, San Marcos Farms Honey (sells at the Farmer's Markets), 681-0312. or Paul Cronshaw, 453-7863. Both are long time local bee keepers and will be happy to help. (Both are really nice people too.)

Or wait a couple of days and they may fly off again. They may just be resting. A swarm landed in my neighbor's lime tree recently and she freaked and wanted to call an exterminator for the "wasps" but I was able to get her to wait and fortunately they moved on the next day.

In today's Craigslist "Wanted" section, someone is looking to capture such a hive.

Cronshaw took a major hive of bees from our attic... moved them to Montecito. Totally expert and nice too. Now the bees are probably pollinating Oprah's roses.

Send an e-mail to this group. It has about 75 local bee-keepers on it. Someone will get your bees.

it is PAUL Cronshaw you want, not Ian. He is in the phone book. Excellent bee man. Has helped us for years.

What happens if the bees are allowed to remain? Does the hive get bigger and therefore more dangerous? Isn't it good for the neighborhood to allow them to stay if not in an immediate area where people hand out?
