I got a speeding ticket , paid the ticket ($432.00) and now I'm looking over a selection of traffic school classes. There's close to 100 choices.
I would like to hear from anyone who has chosen one of these classes or knows of any that can be eliminated. I'll probably tend toward the comedy genre...Thanks

Do it online if it's still offered. Last time was 10 years ago for me, but it was easy sailing :-)

I did my traffic school online at http://www.trafficinteractive.com/ Seems geared toward the 20-30s age drivers with animated films and games, plus a straight text version. You can switch back and forth. It's pretty entertaining. And you can login and out at your convenience. You have to pass short tests along the way to continue. You get to repeat everything until you pass. At the end, they give you a cheat sheet for the final exam. Everything is handled online and they submit your completion info to the court. Think I paid around $23.

There are several online traffic schools. That would be the way to go in my opinion.

I just did it and picked the first one on the list. It was easy. A little time-consuming and they put some trick phrases in there so that they make sure you're actually reading the content. Very easy. $19.95 and they send the certificate to the court.

HIGHLANDER: Where did you see in the OP that the traffic school was manditory. OP is proably going to knock down some insurance penalty fees.

Online traffic school is a joke! Do you really want to have to study and take a test? Go for Comedy Traffic School - it's actually quite informative. I did that when I got a speeding ticket 10 years ago. Glad I went - learned a lot. Yes, it's 8 hours, but you did the crime, so do the time.

Don't do the traffic school located on the Westside of Santa Barbara. Painful. To fill up the required amount of hours, students were asked to share recipes (some completely in spanish), and we had to walk around the block waiting and watching for new traffic infractions. Boring! I'd do online next time for sure.

I've done night traffic school over 2 sessions for one ticket and online traffic school for another. I will not even think twice next time: online all the way.

Online. I did it years ago to help the insurance rates after a ticket. Just picked one that was relatively cheap. There are a ton, so just look a a few websites, and pick one that looks good & has a decent amount of info on HOW it works. Mine had stupid questions like the author's favoite brand of soda is ____? (It was mentioned in the text between the actual info, so you had to read every line & make notes about the stupid stuff you came across or else you couldn't get to the next part.)

Online - No Contest! The 8 hr. ones where you have to show up are from the dark ages. Boring with a Capital "B." Films like "Red Asphalt" and other hits form the 60's & 70's still abound from what I hear from friends who made the mistake.

I was very disappointed in Comedy TrafficSchool. A very un-funny college student read lists from David Letterman in a monotone. It was long & brutal. No one was laughing ! If you do the online class make sure you do it with plenty of time before your due date or it will be too late to process it. I just went with the cheapest one. They are all tedious but at least you can do it at home.

I had a great experience with gototrafficschool. com. Not to spam you, but they recently sent me an email with a referral code (XMM-DMC-46E) that will get you a couple bucks off the cost.

Do it on line as cheaply and as fast as possible. No one really thinks that the process makes you a better driver. The last one I did contained substantial misinformation but one just answers what they expect. I did the class in about 1:15 minutes over several days when I had time and interest. This is about making money for the courts, state, local police and insurance companies so don't expect much.

Look up ComedyTrafficSchool online. It was the easiest and quickest I've ever done. It was only about $20. Just don't wait til the last minute. Give yourself enough time to receive the certificate in the mail so you can get it to the courts in time.

Thank you to those who gave up an online name or website - much better than guessing! I just paid my fine, too ($311) - that included an extra $63 you pay if you want to go to Traffic School (which you can only do every 18 months and you do that to help keep points off your record so your insurance premium isn't affected); otherwise, it would have been $243. It also included an "administration fee" of $5 to use a credit card. Oh, and the schools online cost about $20 on top of that. I was cited for driving 10 miles over the speed limit. I was driving even faster, but the CHP cut it down because of my clean driving record. Totally my fault; not paying attention. That fine got my attention! They have really increased in the last 20 years.

I agree with #8807. The Westside one was awful! Truly painful. Haven't done online, but anything would be better than that one!

I liked one titled "Happy Traffic School" and it was great. (I'd started Comedy Traffic School and found it annoying.) I learned some things from the Happy one and it was easy to do. I liked that I could do it in time segments of my own choosing. It would remember where I'd been, so I could stop any time I wanted and I could pick it up again at my leisure. I just got curious about it and looked it up, here is the info: It is $14.95 http://www.happytrafficschool.com/ It also says "If you need assistance while registering, don’t worry – live phone support is standing by." and it reminded me that I did call them and they were very helpful. Good luck!
