Pedicure
updated: May 27, 2011, 11:27 AM

I would appreciate some recommendations for the best place to get a pedicure in Goleta or SB. I treat myself a few times a year but have not been very impressed with the one that I go to (kind of a 'McDonalds/fast food" of nail spas). I really would love to find one that has a friendly staff and most of all sanitary! Thanks in advance Edhatters!

Polish in Arlington Plaza. Really wonderful! Beautiful job. Like a spa experience. The place is very pretty and you can go next door to Renaud's for a treat afterwards!

I hope that Mira Bella Salon and Spa is good since I just bought one of those Buys.com coupon the other day as seen on Edhat.

I have to second Rainbow Nails on Calle Laureles (between State and De La Vina). It is owned by a super nice husband and wife and the extra staff is usually other family members. As soon as you leave they are scrubbing the chair and they have an autoclave there for the instruments.

My mom goes for acrylics and spa pedis and I go for just regular manis and spa pedis and we are in bliss while there and after with the special pampering.

Aqua Nail bar is one of the few places you don't have the risk of disease from un-santizied tools (everything from files to foot rasps and the like are NEW for each customer.) Stay away from most of the other places, where they don't really use autoclaves and they have dirty carpeting, etc. It's fungus/hep-c waiting to happen at some salons.

I like Kims nails... in the Turnpike center by cvs. Its a new shop, very clean, and Kim has been doing nails for about 20 years in town. They are very kind and clean.

Aqua Nail Bar is a great place. Clean, efficient, friendly environment, and they specifically don't do acrylics for health reasons.

Oh yes, Polish in Arlington Plaza!
I am new to this place and am so impressed. Susan uses natural products, creates a serene atmosphere, is fast and efficient while being thorough and pleasant. One review says, "The only totally organic, eco-friendly nail lounge in Santa Barbara. Walk-ins welcome, appointments are preferred." 1324 State St., Suite L

Drive a little farther and come down here to Carpinteria ! The gals at Head to Toe on Linden are AWESOME. They use disposable, totally sterilized pedicure liners. :-) And, they have fun!! So worth the drive! Hour long, $30., no surprises. I have a gel pedicure, it's so cool! Try them, you won't be disappointed!

Aqua Nail Bar, is the most clean and professional mani pedi spa in Santa Barbara. I recommend them for a fabulous pedi that lasts longer than other nail spas I have tried. They have a nice website listing all their services at www.aquanailbar.com

711: Gel polish dries instantly under UV light. Last and last and last. Never dulls, comes in many wonderful colors, you can put shoes on right after you're done. Cool stuff. You do need to return to have them soaked off properly. I love them!

Been to 99% of the nail shops mentioned, and as I am meticulous about the quality and customer service, this is what I would recommend:
Happiness Nails in Fairview Shopping Center (near Panda Express): Best value, excellent service, meticulous-detail especially if you want nail art. Relaxing massage chair to sit in. Advise you bring your own nail color as limited assortment. Takes SB Axxess discount card (up to 3 times!!!)

Aqua Nails in San Roque (across from 7-11): Best natural nails (no acrylics available), best french manicures, the pedicures last a very long time and indulgence due to the pampering atmosphere, but prices are little higher. Great nail color assortment to choose from.
