Preschool Location
updated: May 20, 2011, 1:44 PM
The Circle of Friends Children's Center, a non-profit local preschool, just had their lease terminated. They are looking for a new location in the SB area to lease.
Space is required by July, and they are looking for 1400 sq. feet of indoor space in addition to bathrooms, a kitchen, and office area. Roughly 3000 sq. feet of outdoor space that lends itself to preschool play is also needed.
Circle of Friends is a well respected and much-loved preschool that has been serving the SB area since 1978. It was formerly known as the Nursery School at Marymount. It is an NAEYC Accredited Preschool and an Orfalea Outdoor Classroom Demonstration Site.
Does anyone have any recommendations for lease space? Or know of any good locations that might work for Circle of Friends?

Don't know any details but landlords are under no obligation to act as a charity. If we as a community want a preschool to stay in a location maybe we need to pony up the difference in rent, donate to the preschool so they can pay market rent, or buy a building and rent it to the school. Landlords buy property to make money.

I am poster 380p. If I think of a suitable location, I will post it here in response to the original post. It is possible that local churches may be able to provide space on a temporary basis, or maybe another preschool has some extra space that they could share.

Have you considered space at the Goleta School District offices at 401 N. Fairview? They used to have several schools there and now there don't seem to be as many. It might be worthwhile to look and see what they have.
