Tour of California Locations

The Amgen Tour of California bicycle race will move through Santa Barbara County this week in the following locations:
STAGE 6 - On Friday, May 20, the cyclists will participate throughout the day in the Solvang Individual Time Trials. Motorists on Hwy. 246 will be detoured around downtown Solvang from 5 am until 7 pm. Detour signs will be posted to assist the public.
The CHP will handle the ramp closures while the riders move through these areas. The public is encouraged to be aware of these riders and support vehicles as they move through the area.
Caltrans reminds motorists that ‘we're here to get you there.'

Come to Solvang Friday for an amazing, European-feeling experience as over 260 press folks from countries all over world cover Stage 6 - the Individual Time Trial! The action starts at 10:30 am and continues all day until the final pro crosses the finish line on Copenhagen Drive around 3:30 pm.

Does anyone know why they didn't route the same way through Los Olivos as they have in the past? The route used to go up Grand and make a left turn where there were stands, a PA announcer, etc. but not this year - they've got the route going up Santa Barbara instead.
