Can anyone recommend a good moving company for cross country moving that
services Santa Barbara? Any good or bad experiences?

I had my belongings in storage in NJ for years. United Moving Co moved them here just recently and it was a wonderful move. Their office personnel were profiicient (returned phone calls promptly!). Expert, professional, clean, on time and very good rates. In a follow up survey (United HG), I gave them an excellent rating.

There are several variables to consider. If you are willing to pack yourself, I highly recommend PODS - Portable On Demand Storage. Google them.

Mammoth moving. They did an amazing job, everything got to our location intact and actually ahead of us! Oh and did I mention that me moved to our new location in the middle of a snow storm? No problem.

These are great recommendations. I am going to be moving out of state soon and didn't have any idea who to use. Be careful of the " extra" charges. Some companies charge you by how many times they go up and down stairs ($50 a time), extra for bulky items like refrigerators, extra for blankets, extra for tie downs, fuel sur charge, alot of things that just should be the cost of doing a good job for them. You want a "binding quote" in writing. Otherwise they can charge you whatever they feel and if you don't pay they keep your stuff until you do--plus storage charges of course. Also last time I moved we got charged from the time they left their office to the end of the move ---no doubt they stopped for donuts and coffee along the way. Ask them when the time begins. You want "from the time they arrive at your door." Just a few tips from the last time I moved (in town) and got ripped off.

24/7 is the best. Jerod's Moving is the worst.
