Cathedral Oaks Project Update
updated: May 06, 2011, 11:22 AM

Source: Caltrans

A project to realign Cathedral Oaks Road with Hollister Avenue and replace the Hwy. 101 overcrossing at Hollister Avenue will result in lane closures of Calle Real for a four-week period beginning Monday, May 9.

Motorists will encounter intermittent one-way reversing traffic control Monday through Thursday from 8 am to 5 pm and on Fridays from 8 am to 2 pm. Delays are expected to be minimal because the majority of work will take place behind concrete barriers.

Caltrans will widen Calle Real to include two twelve foot lanes and two five foot shoulders from Cathedral Oaks Road to the Hwy. 101 northbound onramp.

This $7 million project is expected to be completed in June of 2011.

The Bacara Resort and the Sandpiper Golf Course remain open for business.

I'm not really clear on what part of Calle Real will be closed? Anyone know?

The far end (west) down toward Bacara... you're right, it's not very clear at all though.

From the intersection of Cathedral Oaks and Calle Real westward to the northbound 101 on ramp.

Where: Winchester Canyon exit & new overcrossing. West terminus of Cathedral Oaks and Hollister, out by Sandpiper Golf Course.

Caltrans, please provide a drawing. Those of us who live out here want to know what to avoid. Will the northbound 101 onramps remain where they are? Or are they moving closer to the new overpass? Are you widening Calle Real between the current northbound off-ramp and the new overpass? Or between the new overpass and the existing northbound on-ramps? Or both? Is it best to just avoid the whole area all-together for a month and use Storke/ Glen Annie? We're happy to cooperate if you give us better clues...

Align the 154 so there is a seamless entry (meaning no stop lights) to the 101 north and southbound) while you're at it, please.
