Rent a tractor - Hire a Driver - Dig it out - Purchase parts from Plumbing store -Hire plumber to hook it up....... 5K - 12K depends on how big and location - Does it have leech lines also?

It varies wildly depending on your situation and the County has some tough new rules about leach lines & dry wells. Best get some estimates.

Bad news! They'll probably make you connect to some distant sewer, requiring permits, engineering, more permits, more engineering... etc. This is not a good subject here. There are so many illegally connected or leaking sewers here in SB they want to control everything they can to keep it from the ocean or the ground water or....

cheapest way will be DIY. Get about 4-8 diggers. should take them one day to dig it up, one day to remove the old one, and one day to install the new one and connect the leach lines. prolly gonna run ya at least $5k. Or go with an established plumbing contractor like Lee and Neal but it will cost more for sure, but they will do an excellent job. Why do you think your septic tank needs to be replaced? or is this new construction?

The condition of the existing leach field/pits must be verified. Septic tanks that are not emptied send solids into the leach field making it useless. Roots can also be a long term problem.

Strongly recommend Lee and Neal. They do not do the work themselves (they do pumping only), but they will recommend two long-time local firms that are high integrity, and will be dramatically cheaper than others. I saved a big bundle by calling Lee and Neal!
