Jeep Service
updated: Apr 20, 2011, 6:37 AM
Four years ago I bought a used Jeep Wrangler. I love this thing, but can any other more-experienced Jeep owners in SB tell me the best place to get it serviced? Thanks in advance.

Automotive Technicians Group in Goleta (www.atggoleta) has been servicing my Dodge Ram for quite a while now; I have always been very happy with their professionalism and time they take to explain any issues found. I have not found anyone in Santa Barbara-proper.. but I'm happy with Jamie and crew so I stopped looking!

Bowman's Auto Repair on Philinda (Off Cannon Perdido, near SBHS). They service all makes and models, great service and honest. Been going there for years with several different cars. Steve is the owner and will give you a ride to/from work if you need it. 965-5051

The best place to go is Fairview Unocal. Jerry is a master Jeep mechanic. We love our jeep and now have two and has worked on both. He is very knowledgeable and amazing. We love Unocal and there great staff. Brian is who you will want to call he makes the appointments and is the best.

Depends on what you're looking for. There's Mark at John Hurley Automotive on Por la Mar by Tri-County Produce. He used work for his dad at Gene's Jeeps that used to be on upper Haley. JHA does a great job and they're fair (not cheap, though.) Then there's Rob. He runs 4 Wheel Drive and Fabrication out in Goleta. He's the local 4x maestro. If you even occasionally use you Wrangler as a real jeep, you probably at least want to talk with him and see what he does. If you use it as a "car," then go to Hurley.

Second for Steve Bowman and Bowman's Auto Repair. Can't speak for his knowledge of Jeeps but he takes great care of my old SAAB and I see plenty of other makes and models being worked on there. He does what he promises, rates are fair, and he's very conscientious about identifying what repairs are really needed and which can wait a while if money is an issue, which of course it is.

Gene's used to do all of my service. If Mark is at JHA, I would definitely take it there.

When I had a jeep and needed service I had to drive to Ventura (Kirby Jeep etc.) There are some good local mechanics but you need to see if they work on Jeep brands.
