Neon Coffee Cup

With all the coffee talk on Edhat lately about Coffee Shops, local and otherwise, Ed decided to throw some mud into the saucer with an Edness picture of a neon coffee cup. This cup is in the front window of the oldest coffee shop in town, Vices & Spices. And as far as we know, it is also still local and not part of national coffee syndicate.
Vices & Spices poured their first drip in 1978. And they were pretty much the only game in town for beans and such until 1989, when Santa Barbra Roasting opened by the freeway. After that, it was coffee, coffee everywhere. Today there's a Caramel Macchiato at every corner. And free wi-fi to boot.

They have great spices, candy, tea, in addition to coffee. If you've never tried the chocolate rum, apricot brandy, etc. candies, they are to die for. Num, num, num....

nice people too. Those apricot & choc candies ARE divine! V&S has been a go-to for unusual spices for international cuisines for many, many years, waaaay before the current trend for the hottest new food fad took hold. It's a comfortable, unpretentious place for enjoying a delicious coffee drink.

V & S also came out with Obama Blend coffee, a delicious blend of Kona, Kenya and Indonesian coffees. I love to meet people there - feels homey and welcoming.

This wonderful place has been a favorite of mine for as long as it has been in business--which is a long time. It is unique in so many ways. Great place to meet and "hang out" among many friendly people. V&S will survive.
