I got the best sunglasses at the Carpinteria monthly flea market! Someone there sold sunglasses decorated with wonderfully glittery sequins -- mine were flashy royal blue and my sister-in-law's are gold. Love 'em!

Also, So Good in downtown SB has a good selection of reasonably priced sunglasses (assuming you are talking about non-prescription type).

If your looking for form & function, I would say go to Mountain Air Sports at the end of State St (on the left just before the pier). They have fashionable ones that are also good quality and polarized which makes a HUGE difference. Gotta keep those eyes protected! I got a pair of "Smith" womens glasses and love them! They were around $120... They also have a lot of mens glasses as well.

Nordstrom also has a pretty extensive selection.

I used to spend over a $100 for sun glasses. Enough is enough. I spent $20 for sunglasses that looks just as good at Big 5.

Sears Optical! They have the best prices on Ray Bans- their parent company- Luxotica- owns Ray Ban and they have the best selection and great staff! A hidden jewel on second floor at La Cumbre Plaza Sears!

Why don't you pass on the big chains.....

If you don't need prescription sunglasses, buy at the sunglass/post card shop near the SuperCuts store on downtown State Street. I buy 2 pair at a time for $12-15 each. Terrific value and nice local mom/pop owners.

Are you buying for function (protection) or fashion? The answer differs, depending on what the question is.

a second vote for Sundance Beach in the Camino Real Marketplace. they have hundreds of pairs that cover a wide price range and they always have discount coupons in their magazine and on their website.

700 block of State Street...just up from Java Jones and across the street from Pascuccis. The couple have had their shop here for over 10 years. Unfortunately I continue tio sit on or lose my dark glasses, so I do business with them fairly often. They are friendly, helpful and consistently there.
