March Edness 2011

In the middle of one of the older sections of town, there is a little courtyard with an elephant fountain, a stylish urn, some law offices, and an outdoor wall sconce of a cute little dog with a piece of rope in its mouth. The courtyard is off of De La Guerra Street, between Santa Barbara and Anacapa Streets - a very short walk from City Hall.

During March Edness 2007, Mayor Marty Blum picked the elephant fountain for her celebrity hidden treasure in town. Apparently, all that mayoral publicity did not fill up the plaza with visitors. Four years later, the elephants and the dogs are still a well-kept secret. Not many in our group of hot-shot local locators knew about the dog. And thus, it was yet another low-scoring dog-eat- dog day of Edness.
