Not a Drivethrough

Monday's March Edness photo was of the side of a building. A fast food restaurant, to be more specific. It's almost a picture of what's not there.

The building in question is the McDonald's restaurant in Goleta's Camino Real shopping center. It's located at 6900 Market Place Drive, just off Storke Road, in the shopping center. If you are standing in the center of the shopping center looking at the McDonald's, you can't miss this column-supported trellis along the side of the building.

It's the side of the building where there would have been a drive through window, had the developer been allowed to put a drive through restaurant in the shopping center. Those who have been around town for awhile might remember the long discussions over the merits of idling while waiting for shakes and burgers versus getting out of the car and walking into the restaurant for fast food.

Parking and walking won, leaving us with an accented blank fast food restaurant wall for today's March Edness answer. Would you like fries with that?
