Lunch at the Wildcat

Dear Edda,
The other day, my friend and I were having lunch at the Wildcat, and started talking about your column. A couple of other folks heard us talking and joined into the conversation.
At the bottom of your column each week, the description says you are loving and sympathetic. We all agreed that a lot of wisdom, and sometimes even love and sympathy comes from the comments section of your columns, but very little comes from you.
Why do people take all the time to write you long questions, when you never really answer?
