updated: Mar 06, 2011, 11:11 AM

Where is a good place to buy traditional board games in town, like Scrabble and Monopoly? Not sure where to go since most of our toy stores are closed.

There's also the Game Seeker shop on lower State Street - below Starbucks, I think. 537 State St. They have a store and a website...

Bennett's in Goleta, in the Magnolia Shopping Center, not just for traditional games, but for all sorts of wonderful educational toys.

There's a toy store on Calle Real between Patterson and Fairview, near Blenders. Or Alpha Thrift, but sometimes games have pieces missing.

Kernohan's has a great selection of games and toys. One location is on Anapumu behind the State and A. The other is on Calle Real near Blenders/ Traders. Locally owned. Go there for thoughtful, creative choices.

K-Mart has the biggest selection. Is Toys R Us in La Cumbre Plaza still open or was that just for the holidays?

I think it's Gameseeker that has some wonderful jigsaw puzzles!

Please try to go local and keep a small SB Business owner in business. Gameseeker has monopoly for certain. Other than that-CVS has Scrabble (I bought it there for a toys for tots party, last minute-a few years ago) Otherwise, yep, KMart!

Buy local! Support Game Seeker and Kernohan's! Owner at Game Seeker recommended a game for my two granddaughters that is one of their favories, even two years later. He also has a great sense of humor.

558, your advice doesn't jell. suppoort local, SB small business owner? Then recommend CVS, that doesn't fit your recommendation. I shop CVS first try the locals for what I need.
