Cabinet Maker
updated: Mar 01, 2011, 5:02 PM

Can anyone recommend a good cabinet maker in town? I want some built-in bookshelves for my home office, I'd like to hire someone with enjoys working on older houses, and does actual cabinetry/millwork--no prefab or laminate stuff. I also want to keep the project within a reasonable budget.I know that's asking for a lot. Does anyone know of a good person for the job?

Ted Long is Great, but does not install anymore. I would strongly suggest John Wagner. He lost his shop and home in the Tea Fire, but has rebuilt an amazing duo again and is one of the most reliable, honest craftsman in town.

John Wagner is fabulous. When he was out of commission for a short time a few years back we hired Ted Muneno - he is also excellent.

Greg Iler doesn't actually build cabinets, he does the designing of cabinetry and has turned at least three incredibly beat up old houses into beautiful gems. He is honest, creative and very patient with people.

Starbuck/ Minikin (no relation to the coffee mogul). They not only know what they are doing, but they are cool guys. You might find someone out there who is a little bit cheaper, but you get what you pay for. The best in town in my opinion.

I vouch for Vincent Walker a licensed wood contractor, I think he's called. Check with him to see if he does what you're looking for. He's fair and honest and does good work.

I second Ogden Woodworking. I have known Ed Ogden for well over 10 years and you will not find a person with more experience making cabinets in Santa Barbara.
