Stongly recommend Ken Symer Automotive. Flawless service on our Toyota and Nissans for years. Nopal St. In the phone book.

Dave Munoz! Excellent mechanic, totally honest and trustworthy - been going to him for many years. But he only works on Hondas.

Robert DiMauro (DiMauro's Automotive) is the best, nicest, most honest, and fair Honda mechanic in the world!

C&S Automotive near State & 154. as a former dealer tech I have seen shoddy work from just about every major indy shop in town, C&S has always been great though.

Have used Advanced Automotive on Aero Camino across from the airport tower for years. They have worked on a number of makes of cars for me including Honda - not Toyota - but they have been both good and honest.

Good luck!

John Howe West on Daley Street in Old Town Goleta. I've taken my Toyota there for years and it will keep going forever!

Fairview Union 76 has the best Honda mechanic in town, by name of Jerry. They treat you well, always get the work done when promised and oftentimes even have your car washed, for free, as part of their service. Can't be beat. Locally owned as well.

For Honda go to Robert DiMauro at DiMauro's Automotive, 5798 Dawson Ave., phone 964-1032, in Old Town Goleta (near Hollister and Pine). Go to Google, type in DiMauro Automotive Goleta reviews, and you'll find out why so many folks -- including me -- will go only to Robert and Danny.

Top Cat Auto (used to be Klaus Braun Automotive). Tim Chew is the owner there. They are on upper State near Dutch Garden and the Ye Olde Butcher Shoppe.

And another vote for Robert DiMauro at DiMauro's Automotive. I have a 1991 Honda Accord Ex that he has taken care of since 1998. My next car will have to be a Honda or Acura since he is such a great mechanic.

I hesitate to recommend Robert DiMauro because he might become too busy after all these referrals and I'll never get my Honda in there when I need it. He is good and TRUSTWORTHY.

Yet another recommendation for Scott's Mobile. This seems to be a very repetetive topic for referrals.

Scott's Mobile- he has been working on our family's plethera of cars over the 10+ years (Toyota, Nissan, Buick, Chevy, Pontiac). He's very knowledgable, very good rates and really cares about his customers. Plus the best part is he comes to where your car is so you don't have to worry about finding rides to/from the shop or towing it to a shop if it breaks down.

Rick Huff for just about any car! And if you can't get in to see him, try David Munoz. They are both outstanding, honest mechanics and all around good guys.

Absolutely and without doubt: Robert DiMauro, in Goleta. We lived in SB for 25 years, now moved north to Santa Cruz County, and we still take our Accord down to Robert when good work or astute judgement is needed. He's the best.

I just wish there was an equivalent for Toyota, or that Robert would work on Toyotas as well.

Another "yes!" for Robert DiMauro for Honda/Acura.

The equivalent is John Howe West for Toyota cars/trucks. (John retired, but Phil is still great!)

Kiwi does great, reasonable work. But dare I say that the Toyota dealer (gasp!) in Goleta isn't bad at all and doesn't seem expensive for normal maintenance at all.

For Hondas, Dimauro's with a doubt. If you were to create the perfect auto mechanic, it would be Robert Dimauro, and that's not an exaggeration. I also wish he worked on other makes of cars. Check Yelp for more detailed reviews.

I've also been to John Howe, once a long time ago, for a Toyota. I'm sure he's a good mechanic because he came recommended, but I didn't feel like he was that friendly, and he ended up keeping my car for many days to diagnose a simple problem. So I'm still on the lookout for a really good, independent Toyota mechanic just like Dimauro...one can dream.

My brilliant, honest mechanic of fourteen years moved back to his native New Zealand and I was bereft until I found Tim at Top Cat Motors. Not only is he honest and diligent, but I can walk to Java Station while my car is being worked on and read a book or get work done on the computer. I need my car for work, so it is important to me to have a mechanic I can trust.
