updated: Feb 13, 2011, 3:16 PM

Can anyone recommend an auto paint shop for a car with damaged clear-coat? Might require a full repaint.

Dino's Body Shop - 59 Depot Rd. - Mountain side across from the airport - 683-8189. Nice guy and honest too. Dino De Nunzio is the owner.

John Briggs Motorsports! in Goleta on Thornwood Dr. I can't speak highly enough of them. dealing with Marcia is the most pleasent experience ever. they are on the pricer side somewhat compared to other Goleta shops but the experience and quality of work they do speaks for itself, and they will do insurance claims if you are going that route.

avoid Hughes Autobody. those guys are pricks. I went there for a quote and I basically got shoved out the door since I wasn't there to just give them my business. the guy I dealt with was a real piece of work, I don't know how someone can be so rude to people when operating a business.

I agree, Dino's all the way. After an accident a couple of years ago, I got estimates from several places and I liked the whole feeling of professionalism and friendliness at Dino's. They did an awesome job, too!

Agree with 449. John Briggs does very good paint work, and his wife Marcia is extremely pleasant.

Diamond Auto Body is really great. I agree, avoid Hughes at all cost.

Interesting the negative comments about Hughes....

I've never dealt with them, but I have noticed the deplorable conditions surrounding their facility. I walk dogs for Dawg and I walk by their place all the time. Junk strewn everywhere; looks like they are years past due for a dump run.

It's been my experience that a neat clean shop is a well run shop. A friend of mine used to own a repair business downtown...and when he locked up for the day the grounds of the facility were completely cleared of any and all vehicles and parts. A well run shop.

Doug

539, that is definately a valid obervation, though one I did not make as I was more aware that somehow they were at capacity with cars to work on yet the way they treat potential customers is atrocious. I wouldn't even risk giving them my business after my encounter with them. the other annoying thing was that Hughes says they are "the Geico shop" (and maybe rightly so, they handle Geico Express claims and have Geico junk all over their office) but when I went to Prestigious that same day for the same quote they also told me they were "the Geico shop" in town which put me off, though they were 100x nicer to deal with.

JOHN BRIGGS. Honest, perfectionist in his work, and his wife Marcia is as easy to work with as anyone you'll ever meet. If you appreciate and value those locally owned business who actually care about doing good old fashioned quality work, you'll be glad you had your car fixed by John.

is this even a question??? JOHN BRIGGS's lot is constantly filled with land rovers, BMW's, Mercedes and the occasional Aston Martin, as well as the toyota's and honda's. You can tell from the current clients of John's which keep coming back to him year after year that this is the ONLY shop in town to take you car to!!! The job gets done right the FIRST time. and marcia is hot

John Briggs did a major, $10,000 repair and paint job for us last year and was exceptionally good. He clearly takes pride in doing superb work. And Marcia is thoroughly conversant with insurance processes and parts ordering and moves the process along with great dispatch and friendliness. We were very pleased with the results.
