Since Westerly Roses is no longer, are there any wholesalers in the area that will be selling roses to the Public?

I didn't know Westerly was out. I guess I'm not paying attention. It was always a pleasure visiting their warehouse - It made me feel close to the source... sorry, I guess this is no help for another wholesaler search. ...what happened to Westerly ?

Is Groen Roses still in business? It is on the More Mesa off of south Patterson. They do not do retail, but have always been charitable for non-profits and the Fiesta parade participants.

Padaro Floral, imo, is even better than Westerly was. They'll even try and take custom orders (in season) if you call a few days ahead. Once the guy who runs the place went out and cut some white roses for me while I waited. And the prices are pretty good, particularly on their "second quality" roses in the fridge room.

I love roses, but anything lovely is perfect for Valentine's day! Go ahead to Westerlay and get her an orchid. They have all sizes, colors and prices. They will fit the plant into a container of your choice and decorate it appropriate for gift-giving. I LOVE to get and give orchids as gifts. The plant lasts WAY WAY longer than cut flowers and they don't require tending - may just a squirt of water. Roses last for a week, if you're lucky, change the water and trim the ends every couple of days...

It sounds like someone works at Westerly Orchids.

@ 940P sounds like someone understands that roses are marked up 5x for Valentine's Day sales. My vote goes to the orchids too. My favs are the Moth Orchid, Phaelianopsis. (sp?) My 'collection' started with one on Valentine's gift 5 years ago, now I have 7. One is reblooming now, with 3 bloom stalks, from where I cut back the bloom stem a few months ago. I love that they last for several weeks each bloom flush, then rebloom in a few months. If you're buying one, go for one open bloom with at least 5-8 unopened plump buds. No, I don't sell orchids, but there are lots of local orchid growers! Buy today--things are going to get picked over at retail outlets.

Groen Rose Co has not been in the rose business for many years, they were undercut by South American growers. At least in the SB location.
