Is it possible to make a *bad* bacon burger??? I mean, take a pile of half-cooked ground round, put it on a soggy bun, add wilted lettuce and an anemic slice of tomato, but at least it's still got *bacon*!!! Subway's BLT has *bacon* too, and it's terrific. You just can't go wrong with *bacon*. Oh, to answer the question, I'll vote for Hamburger Habit, since it's the last bacon burger I had. But I'll have to try Silvergreen's BB on my next visit.

Hungry Cat Pug Burger is good, good, good - ciabatta, prime ground beef, Point Reyes Blue cheese, onions, avocados, and great bacon -- too big to eat which is its primary cutesy pretentious fault served with side of superbly prepared fries and their always unwelcome bad slice of attitude and upsell.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: The best burger of any kind at all between San Francisco and Los Angeles can be found at the Paradise Cafe. Regular, Teriyaki, with grilled onions and/or melted cheese, with bacon, or avocado, or chiles, or chili. And if you can think of something else to put on it, I'm certain if they have it they'll oblige. Heck, why not a Teriyaki /bacon/avocado/chile/cheese Burger with grilled onions and melted cheese, while you're at it? And a bowl of chili on the side. (Damn the cholesterol, full speed ahead, Scotty!)

A little out of town. I was a Captain at a world class restaurant in Boulder, CO in the mid 90's (Flagstaff House). Not really a place to take kids. They were still always happy to comply for a burger request. They would start with a 6 oz filet mignon finely hand diced. Add apple wood smoked bacon and any artison cheese available. They would also add any accoutrement desired. Fries were Yukon Gold. For condiments they made on the spot ketchup or steak sauce. The single greatest burger I've ever had. Would I spend $40? That was in the 90's. Nah!

JeffinSB- you just described the Hungry Cat Pug Burger and it will only set you back $16, if they don't con you into all their high-priced extras. Hold the line, just get the burger. No you don't want a cocktail. No you don't want bottled water. No you don't want a salad. No you don't want the higher priced beer on the menu. No you don't want dessert. Be tough. Just get the burger and the free table water. When they sneer, is that all, you just stay loose and eagerly smile with that burger you don't need anything else. And then watch them short you on the fries. But their burger is that good it is worth running their snide little gauntlet.

Tom's Burgers in Lompoc, "Home of the Educated Hamburger", has choices from A-Z. They have a Bacon burger. My favorite is their F Burger with Bacon, Ortega chilies & Swiss Cheese. You can add onions grilled or not. It's great.

Take your pick. Anything but a ciabatta bun though. It's as if burger gods were standing next to the most perfect burger ingredients in the world, saying to themselves, "how can we now screw up this perfect burger...I know...let's put it on ciabatta...."

Restaurants never seem to get the fact that ciabatta must be fresh--like 10 minutes old at the max, or it turns to a brick. Love a burger on a really fresh ciabatta, hate the cement hard ones they usually try to palm off on you. I prefer sourdough.

Had the Paradise Teryaki burger for lunch last week, meh...not impressed at all, next time I go back I'll be sure and pass on that one and order something else. Also I found the Hungry Cat Burger to be way too salty and hard to eat, they try too hard to make it look like a work of art. Silvergreen's pepper jack bacon burger is awesome, and you can never go wrong with the Habit, ever. SB Brew Co, used to have a decent one, but I haven't been there in a while, I got too tired of the lousy service.

After 29 years in SB the bacon or no bacon the best burgers are: Paradise, Brophy Bros, and the little known Fish Enterprise. Everything else is just everything else!

608P Past Chautauqua park a 1000 feet up from Boulder. Yes our most popular appetiser was the gator and rattlesnake combo (rather bland actually). We sold tons. At $18 ( mid 90's mind you) really helped to bump up a check. Lol
