Does anyone know of a place or group in SB for single middle aged people to meet?

SB Ski Club was always the place for singles of all ages at one time. Does it still meet? There used to be a Third Age Group that met and socialized a few years back.

If you're christian, then church might work. Not everyone is. Also just because someone goes to church doesn't mean they are a decent person. I know someone who worked at a church and cheated on his wife on their honeymoon.

I empathize with the OP... I'm a Christian but I also enjoy my nights partying downtown and cursing like a sailor when the situation demands. I've tried meeting the "nice" girl at the bars... doesn't really work. I'm going to try finding the "bad" girl at church next... Also, EdHat? :)

I suppose I should clarify- I empathize with the OP in that I'm not sure where to meet the kind of girl I'm after.

137250 - It's easy to find the "bad" girl at church. Just look for a woman who arrives alone, wears open toes shoes, carries a little purse and constantly scans the crowd. She's looking for you.

You can meet anyone anywhere. Work on your opening greeting. It's football season. Head downtown. Single women have learned to get out and mingle on game day. That's when the fellas are out. Available people are everywhere. Take notice and start with a smile and a hello. I also agree with ***005. Spot on.

Next month a friend of mine plans to host a party at her home and invite only single people, the vast majority of whom have not met. If you have a big social network, this might be a fun way to go.

If you are not Christian, then try the Unitarian Church which is known for very liberal minded parishioners, but the bad girl with the open-toed shoes might be a big surprise later. Biggest problem there is the guys wear open-toed shoes too and eat wheat germ and still party like it was 1970.

Here's a great exercise. Go online to one of the dating sites, and start filling our your profile. Except, don't do what the majority of people do (lie about themselves to look better). Instead, be as honest as possible (painful if necessary) about who you are, what you like to do, and what you are looking for (if you know). Then, after you have completely evaluated yourself, but before you enter your credit card info, shut off your computer and head to the place you like the most. Chances are your perfect match is there.

If you go to Harmony don't say that you are atheist or gay. They screen out "undesirables."

The original poster does not specify male or female and does not give an age range for "middle aged.". Still, the replies which suggest "game day" and "the Sportsman" might not be hitting the mark. I wish this could be re-posted with better definition.
