Bathroom Vanity
updated: Jan 14, 2011, 12:43 PM

I need a gently used or new bathroom vanity for an apartment I am moving into on the cheap, since I am paying for it. Besides Habitat for Humanity does anyone know where I could look in Santa Barbara of Ventura for a inexpensive vanity?

Habitat Restore out on Hollister, or check Craigslist under free or building materials. Contractor's Warehouse in Ventura always has good prices too.

Agree on Habitat for Humanity's ReStore. Good prices, and also helps a good cause!

I agree with 136440 Habitat for Humanity near KMart. They have SO MUCH stuff there! Some brand new and some recyled -everything that you could think of for a home. Money goes to a good cause as well!

There was a very nice model on closeout sale at Home Depot for $50 last weekend. Espresso colored with porcelain lipped sink.

I love Habitat for Humanities ReStore. It's a little hard to find, because it's tucked behind a large office building on Hollister. If you google ReStore, Goleta, you will see where it is. It's the first place I think of when I need something like that. There is also another venture of this kind in town, I cannot remember the name, but I believe they advertise things for sale on CL. Good luck with your project and I hope you find the perfect piece!

There's a great resource like called Diggers List - basically a craigslist for building material. They have Santa Barbara listings. A quick Google will find it for you, since I can't post links.

Most of the stuff I've found at ReStore are straight retail pricing, especially the raw materials like tile. If you're into charity, great, but if you're on a budget, probably not your place.

Is there an Ikea closer than LA?

Love IKEA, but geez, have you ever tried returning stuff? Take lunch and a roll-out bed!

Contractors Warehouse is out of business. It is running under a different name. Ikea is not worth the drive. It used to be Swedish I think and is now Japanese import junk. Try the restore and then Channel City down the street. They have cabinets in all price categories.

Habitat for Humanity also has ReStores in Oxnard and Santa Maria. The Contractors Warehouse in Ventura is online at http://www.contractorswarehouse.com/ but is now HD Supply Repair and Remodel.

The woman that manages the Art From Scrap also works in Ventura at a building supply salvage type place, for recycling them for resale/reuse..Try calling Art From Scrap and see if she has vanities at the Ventura store and the price ranges.
Also try Villalba Co. Inc Demolition (etc..) in the SB white pages...They had a yard full of parts(salvaged from sites), years ago, their name is still on that yard on the eastside. I had needed to replace just a broken lid to an old toilet in a rental I was in many years ago,the man was very nice on the phone , I met him at the yard with the broken toilet lid & they had just the lid for only $8. I had paid in cash. It would be worth a call to them, about whether they still salvage items and have any vanities.

Demo2Design - Carol Ashley 805-886-6865. 728 Union Ave in SB. We stumbled upon her while garage saling one Saturday morning. She's suuuuuuper nice and has a bunch of neat stuff. If she doesn't have what you're looking for she'll take your name and # and if she does come upon it she'll call you - or put you in touch with the person who has what you want.
