Where in Santa Barbara can I pick up freshly made tortillas to use in homemade enchiladas tonight?

Reyes Market in Carp will make them to order. If you are making enchiladas though the freshest packs from Santa Cruz Market or the like will be just fine.

I agree that the store-bought tortillas are very fresh and will work fine, but Los Arroyos does make fresh tortillas...but they are quite thick and I don't know if they would be best for an enchilada.

costco has tortillas that you make yourself.. they have corn and flour.. there rolled out perfect, you just have to cook them on the stove. very easy and oh so yummy!

since the first step of making enchiladas is to lightly saute or dredge your tortilla in oil to make it soft and plyable, and of course a bit tastier, a fresh package of store bought tortillas (i prefer mission) will work fine.

Question was: Where to get tortillas? NOT How to make enchiladas?

My favorite is la Colmena's, which they make fresh to order. Five for $1 last I checked.

LJ....I enjoyed your review of A Colmena. I can't get the idea out of my head of how great it would be to have a taco party at my home....come on Summer! In the meantime I must go and try the tacos asap!

Aquaholic - I've been to several events now where la Colmena folks catered, even making the tortillas on site. So good! I don't know if you wanted your taco party DIY or catered... ;) If you make it down there, I still recommend the rajas, they grill the cheese with the peppers so it's melty and golden brown on the edges.

Aren't La Colmena's tortillas a little small for enchiladas? Great for tacos, bad for enchiladas.

What kind of enchiladas are you making? This thread gave me a craving for some. I roasted a ton of Hatch Chiles when they were in season and froze them, so it may be enchilada time in our house in the not so distant future as well.
