Both my sister and my daughter take piano lessons from Heather Levin Piano Studio. Her rates are very reasonable and she is a great teacher. I would highly recommend her to anybody.

A woman named Cinder does Guitar On Wheels. She's awesome! I've been watching her for a few years, she teaches my bosses kids (I try not to miss any - these kids are great!). She's wonderful. She even sets up little recitals at coffee shops for her students.

(I'm 135092: I totally screwed up editing my comment... I meant I try not to miss any recitals... that was supposed to go last...)

What is affordable? To the student or to the teacher.

You might check the bulletin boards in the Santa Barbara Sheet Music store. Lots of people advertise lessons there, and I imagine those might be more affordable.

Heather Levin is a wonderful, patient teacher and a great pianist in her own right.

I also recommend Joe Richter for piano or vocal coaching.

I had a couple of friends take lessons from a guy named Dave from Anvil Guitar Instruction. They loved it, and he teaches from his house. Really reasonable rates too! Hope that helps.

I recommend Guitar Lessons by Hans Pukke - amazing guitar player and guitar maker - close to downtown. I believe its $20 for 30 min or $25 for 45 min. hpukke@cox.net

I heartily recommend Kate Wallace. An incredible song-writer, singer, guitarist and most importantly a great teacher for communicating her talents to her students. Her students range from young kids to teenagers and even middle aged folks. Her rates are very affordable "it's all about the music, not the money."

Her other half, Doug Clegg also gives lessons on piano, guitar and just about any instrument that exists.

135285P, You are correct about SBCC offering free classes for these interests. The voice class "Beginning Singing" taught by Val Underwood on Monday night is highly recommended. You can still sign up for these classes if there is room.
