Does anyone know of any good chefs/shoppers to help out an elderly couple in Santa Barbara with grocery shopping and cooking meals a few times a weeks? One of them has diabetes and high bp, so nutritious and healthy food/meals are a must. They could even drop off pre-made meals a couple times a week that could be kept in the fridge or freezer. Thanks.

I recommend Peter Wood, former chef at Quantum, now works for private clients. He's great!

Don't they have family who could do that? Cook up some food, freeze it and put it in their freezer once a week. Elderly people don't eat a lot of food so it would last a while.

Meals on Wheels will provide breakfast & dinners for an extremely reasonable price if they are not driving. They make a once a week delivery. Dinners are frozen and only have to be microwaved for 6 minutes. Also, in the Bay Area, Catholic Charities runs a service that will pick up, wait and return clients home for any grocery shopping or medical need errands. It is a $10 charge for three hours. My mom has these services and it is wonderful.

Another vote for Meals on Wheels, they are a wonderful resource in our community. The drivers are really caring people who volunteer their time. My elderly Father in law looked forward to his daily deliveries and loved chatting with the drivers.

Depending on how wealthy they are, there could be many options. There are a variety of services for seniors offered privately and through the government in SB. I see ads on Craigslist all the time. (Make sure to check more than 1 reference before hiring anyone.) I, too, vote for Meals on Wheels.
