Pumpkin Pie
updated: Nov 24, 2010, 10:56 AM

Pumpkin pies? It's late I know but wondering where people might suggest buying delicious pumpkin pies today? We got one earlier this weekend at Costco. They are big, cheap and pretty good...good enough that it is now gone! Not wanting to go to Costco today, am wondering if you know of tasty pies somewhere closer to town?

For what's it worth, the ones at Ralphs are surprisingly good. TJ's has frozen ones that are probably less processed.

Wish Marie Callender's would return somehow. Was always surprised that they were unable to make it in SB.

I certainly miss the long-deperted German Bakery on De La Vina.

They were the best.

Trader Joes are really delicious. They have them unfrozen too...I like those more.

You really can't beat the size, cost, and quality of Costco's pies.

Trader Joe's has good ones. Always a safe bet. All of their pies are pretty good.

I just got one at Whole Foods today. Got some there last year and they were very delicious, too.

Costo pumpkin pies are large and inexpensive, but they never taste quite right.

I'm the original poster. We already ate a Costco pie. I have had better pies, but agree for the price it's dang good. Though frequent shoppers at TJ's, we like the Costco pie better. Just imagine the lines there today though! I was thinking of more of a specialty shop. But when I see your votes for Costco here, I guess any specialty shop would have stopped making them :)
Ralph's and TJ's, we'll try them.
Thanks for the info...

Fresco has awesome pumpkin pie, though I'm sure it is a lot pricer than Costco's

Just got back from Costco -- with a pumpkin pie. They were bringing them out fresh and piling them up. The store was busy, but the lines moved quickly.

If you're at Camino Marketplace, head over to Anna's bakery. $9.95 and they're fresh, homemade pies that are delicious. Bought two this morning, don't know if there's any left.

Simply Pies...............yummmmmm
They are extremely busy today, so I'd suggest calling ahead.
It's crowded with people picking up pre-ordered pies.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone......

I came here actually to suggest Simply Pies but I think you should call ahead, by now they may be out or too busy!

Didn't know about Renaud's - that a great suggestion too!

(Cracks me up when people don't read comprehensively - OP said they don't want to be bothered going back to Costco, yet people keep saying 'Costco'. How do you people think that's being helpful? Groan.)

I see in another EdHat post that Maravilla Retirement had an "employees' pumpkin pie competition" -- maybe they have some extra pies around that they could sell you.
