Harbor at Night

I'm convinced that the commercial fishermen and fisherwomen that work the Santa Barbara harbor are among the hardest working folks in our community. They're usually the first ones out of the harbor on cold, damp, dark mornings and the last to pull up to the dock under a blanket of stars; wet and smelling of salty dead fish.
I thought it'd be fun to photograph a bit of the nighttime hustle and bustle of our harbor as literally tons of urchins, lobsters, swordfish and thresher shark come to port.
The next time you're at Brophy's, Endless Summer Cafe or the Maritime Museum, stroll over, but stay clear, and watch all the action. It's great pre-dinner entertainment and education.
Oh yes, and there's a remote chance you'll get a taste of fresh uni as an appetizer.
