Easy as Apple Pie
updated: Nov 06, 2010, 9:45 AM
Dear Edda,
About a year ago, my husband quit his job and opened a restaurant. He didn't tell me before he did it, because he knew that I would disapprove. He said it was his lifelong dream, although I knew nothing of this dream.
He has constantly been struggling to make ends meet and claims that he needs my help to be successful. So, now he wants me to quit my job and work with him in the restaurant. I have a perfectly good job, with benefits, and no restaurant experience at all.
This week, I stopped by the restaurant and saw that he has added an item to the menu with my name on it. It is supposedly my "famous homemade apple pie". Edda, I have been buying that pie from the bakery near our house for years! He doesn't know that, but I always thought it was a harmless little lie. In truth, besides apples, I don't even know what goes into a pie.
Now what am I going to do?
Signed,
The New Pastry Chef

Dear Pastry Chef,
That reminds me of a funny story. My friend's dad was always famous for his apple pie. The secret was that my friend's mom made it! LOL.
