Depends on how many you want printed, but for business needs (envelopes and letterhead) our office uses John Surey with BasicData Business Printing. basicdata at verizon dot net or 683-5151.

Call Rundi Culp at Wilson Printing (on Hollister in Goleta) at 964-8875 x238. Tell him you saw an ad on the Santa Barbara Pool League website and he will give you 15% off your first order.

I thought the Alternative was owned by Wilson, who bought the old B of A building and shares a parking lot with Santa Cruz. I remember it has always been good.

Jim Petrini Wilson Printing www.wilprint.com 805-964-8875 ext #234 Alternative is no longer there, it is Wilson printing. They do 90% of our stuff at work and use to do the greeting cards for a company I use to work for.

This is good information - I've been wondering the same thing. I used CafePress online, but if you're ordering small quantities it costs over $20/calendar by the time you pay tax and shipping. What are the local places charging??

Depending on how many you want, some of the office stores can do it.

Wilson Printing has been at that location (next to Santa Cruz market) for many, many, many years.

Wilson Printing is great, and their web site currently leads with an ad for calendars and cards. But just to clarify SGC's remark "Alternative is no longer there" ... Wilson Printing at 5777 Hollister is owned by Dale Wilson and Alternative Printing at 1511 Chapala by Walt Wilson. Their companies have somewhat different specialties but the two Wilsons are brothers and friends.

Anybody know what these local printers are charging to print a calendar? It would be great if they would actually put the prices on their websites.

@953 That's like asking "How much is a bicycle?". Too many variables for them to quote a price. Best thing to do is ask in person, with some idea of what you want the product to look like. Then they can do an estimate, which they don't charge for. If timing is important, be sure to express this. If quality is especially important, take in a small hand lens, ask for some samples of their work, and look at the pixels up close. My dad was color pressman and always inspected work up close, to see how sharp the image was.

As for calendars, Wilson Printing prints custom calendars (we're having a special) the first one is $12.95, and additional ones are $19.95 (the usual price). Larger volumes are quoted. Next week we will be printing our desk calendar that we give out to customers. If you stop by, you probably could talk us out of one.

If EdHat could get the posters to agree to it, we might do a "best of" of the gorgeous photos of here that regularly get posted. We could pick a "top 12" and have Wilson Printing print a bunch of them, with part of the proceeds going to EdHat! We ought to be able to sell a couple hundred at least, and I know I'd be good for at least one at $13, and perhaps 2 or 3. It makes me happy to see gorgeous photos of where we live while I'm working at my desk. It encourages me to quit sitting at this stupid computer and go outside!
