Anne at 19 Blue. I have short, thick, wavy hair and I found her about a year ago. I found her through the numerous positive responses about her at the online yellow pages (I think that's where it was). As owner, her cuts are a bit more expensive ($60), but even at that, they're a fraction of what other stylists in town charge and her cuts are great.

I've said it before, I'll say it again - Speak to Eric at Highlights Hair Salon, not only does he advertise on Ed. He happens to be a great stylist. If he can work with my wifes curls he can work with anybody's... but don't him started about Target

THat last comment is funny! I recommend Brian at Avia. He did wonders for my super thick, coarse, wavy/curly unruly locks. It took forever to find someone that knows how to deal with anything but straight hair (which is the majority) and even people with experience w/ curly/thick hair seem to cut according to straight styles. And the cut lasts even tho my hair grows fast!

Rosa Regalado at Hair Select on the Mesa.. the ladies there are wonderful..plus they are VERY reasonable...

Diana Pedersen at Legends - 899-5114 - she does great work, has thick/wavy hair and is quite reasonable - a hiarcut is ~$33

Adela at The Salon, 218 W, Canon Perdido St. Phone 962-1755. I started going to Adela years ago because I liked the short cut she did on a co-worker's thick and wavy hair. (My hair is neither thick nor wavy and we don't cut it short, but I could tell that Adela knew about all kinds of hair.)

I've actually gone to both Marisol at Salon Patine and Brian at Avia and chose to move on from each of them for various reasons. I've been using Phil at Chateau Belle for 2 years now and he's by far the best hair stylist I've had in town! I have wavy/curly hair and it looks great ever since I started going to him. I know other women who have thick wavy/curly hair that use him and he does a great job.

I highly recommend Shannon Levy at Rebe Belle in Ventura. I know it's a bit of a drive but you can make a trip of it and go shopping down there. Shannon is a miracle worker with curling kinky frizzy hair.
Her number is (805) 643-1412

Many people from Montecito go there and all of them are so happy with her. She's funny too.

Patricia Noel in Summerland is great at cutting wavy or curly hair. She has that type of hair and knows the importance of cutting it at the right part, with the grain of the curl so you don't end up with a poufy look. And she's a really nice person.

Denise at Salon Marceline (919 Chapala St). My hair is thick and wavy (seems to get wavier and wavier every year). She does a wonderful job and I always get rave reviews!

Inna at Salon Mishay. Brooke and Andrea (the owner) also do a great job. I have long, thick curly hair and Inna does a great job cutting it. Not something everyone can do well!

I've been going to Espy at Darrel John's (sp?) on Chapala for years. She is wonderful, doesn't over-cut my long, thick curly hair. AND she does wonderful braiding, fantastic stuff.

I have very long, thick hair that I perm and color. Tami at Ciao is amazing and I've been going to her for years after many disappointing appointments with other stylists. I would highly recommend her for this type of hair.

My mom and I both go to Victoria at Salon Patine (898-1133) and have been for years. I came across her name from a customer that was in line at a movie rental place I worked at. I loved her cut and had to ask who her stylist was (back then Victoria worked above Studio S). Good luck!

Oh and though I haven't had Adela @ the Salon cut my hair she is an awesome woman, and our mutual best friend always goes to her!

Hilda Morales at Classic Hair on West Carrillo. VERY REASONABLE - she in recent years started her own salon (used to work at Trade Secret). The address is the little building next to Carrillo Union 76 gas station which is the corner of Bath and Carrillo Streets. There is free parking in the back and the bus stops right in front for those who ride the bus. Her salon is the front half of the building.

I agree about Brian at Avia. Super sweet, listens to want you want. I bring pictures to let him know what I'm looking for. He's got a great vibe, no gossip, talks about life, etc. I leave feeling gorgeous.
