Tastes and Tidbits

There are many tidbits around town worthy of a peek. Here are some one-offs I've spied recently.

Grapes from the Saturday farmers market.

Beef slider and salad from the Sol Food Festival.

Vegetarian sushi hand roll from the Sol Food Festival.

La Chapala's carnitas hurrache, with beans, carnitas, nopales and cheese, $6.

Rockin' Yogurt's special: Medium yogurt with three toppings, $5.

Mylar tunnel from sonicSENSE's installation at the Contemporary Arts Forum during First Thursday in October. Walking down the tunnel pushed and pulled pockets of air, creating ripples and wave patterns in the mylar, which somehow also cued electronic bird twitters in the building.

The mural on Caje's facade, in Isla Vista - on the wall where the image of a Volkswagen is painted, the windscreen's reflection shows the Bank of America building burning in the 70s. This image on the wall is aligned with the reflection of the former bank, had there been a real Volkswagen in its place.

Milpas cow - at a time of day when the color of the cow does not matter.
