DOG OF THE WEEK

Luke
updated: Nov 20, 2010, 9:15 AM

This is our dog, Luke. We fostered him from DAWG for a couple of months. Every weekend we would drop him off so people could meet him but nobody ever showed interest in him, probably because he looks like a pit mix. He was a favorite with the volunteers and we quickly fell in love with his personality. He is very well behaved and loving and has lots of funny quirks. He likes to sleep on his back with his legs sticking straight up. He insists on being a lap dog, even when we're sitting in a small desk chair. He also yawns excessively. Luke loves wrestling with his best friends Brewski and Chloe at the dog park by our house near DP High School. This is a little known dog park where the same 5-10 neighborhood dogs come to play every night around sunset. Luke loves everybody, including our roommates and friends. He insists on greeting everybody he meets, even strangers walking by on the street. This becomes a slight problem when he gets in the way of joggers, not understanding that they are not running just to meet him. After several months at DAWG, with no prospective adopters, we decided to adopt him ourselves. He had clearly become an important member of our household. We are not sure exactly what breed Luke is. Our best guess is pit mixed with dalmation, great dane, or bull dog. Everyone we meet always try to guess. Whatever he his, he is sweet, eager to please, funny, and we are so happy that we decided to adopt him.
