Where is the best place in town to get shoes repaired? I have a beloved pair of heels that I just
can't seem to part with, but they need some TLC.

Jesse's on Calle Real for sure. The place by the Post Office in San Roque is a joke. Took a pair there and they broke again the next day. All they did was glue. Coulda done that myself and saved $18

I heard Jesse's was a good place- although I never have had shoes repaired there. Some one told me they also work on leather jackets too

the place near Gelson's/San Roque post office sucks. It was pricey in my opinion, it took them a week to do it and they didn't even do a like buff or wipe the shoes down. Sounds like I am going to have to try Jesse's.

I think the place that is (was) in Paseo Nuevo has closed. I believe that is Step-n-Out, now located at 907 State St, as ANEMONEFISH pointed out.

Jesse's shoe repair on Calle Real is in the same shopping plaza as Zodo's Bowling. As you are looking at Zodo's it is in the row of businesses on the left.

I've had many good experiences with Step N Out Shoe Repair, formerly in Paseo Nuevo but now on State Street. Their service is prompt and they always do a good job. I went to the place at San Roque once and they told me it would take them 3 weeks because they were backed up. I never went back. I live in Goleta now and will definitely try Jesse's!

Step N Out is the only one I've used. They recently relocated to State from over in Paseo. I've had ok luck with them. They are friendly, but the last time I went, he showed me a sole he was going to use to re-sole my shoes and used a different color than he showed me. He insisted he showed me the color he used, but he didn't. And it was relatively expensive at $56 to resole these shoes. The color of the sole was crucial and I feel it ruined the shoes. So just be careful out there!

I had a bad experience with Step-N-Out, the place that used to be in Paseo Nuevo and is now on State St. They are horribly rude people. After that bad experience, I checked out the reviews on Google for that business and found several others had posted similar bad experiences and also found them to be quite rude. I look forward to trying Jesse's since several here are recommending them.

jesse's is the only logical place in town for shoe repair. i just took 3 pairs of my daughter's boots in there for repairs - one pair was so bad i thought she should just toss them, but she had purchased the boots in budapest and couldn't bear to let them go. they needed new heels and the soles needed to be completely sewn back on - all three repairs cost me LESS than the price of one new pair of boots - i think i paid around $50...and i got them back in less than a week...and all 3 pairs were shinned and ready to wear! jesse is the bomb!

Looks like great recommendations for Jesse's. I'll have to try. I have been going to StepNOut. They're ok. Will not go back to that SanRoque store. Gave them a second chance recently - so now have had 2 bad experiences there.

when Willie's closed on Canon Perdido I was lost - tried the san Roque shop, but not crazy about how long it took and they did not shine the shoes -- bad for return business - and when i commented on - "they aren't shined" - the couple non-chalantly said, "we can't do that anymore." thanks to everyone for the heads up on jesse's.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a cobbler in town who can alter the circumference size on boots? I have slender calves and ankles, and need to take them in just a tad. I know this can be done, but was warned that the cobbler needs to have experience doing this. Any suggestions would be welcome!!
