1129 Kiosk

The Wednesday Where Is It (WWII) picture yesterday was taken smack dab in the middle of downtown Santa Barbara. And, in the spirit of what Edhat has become, compared to what it used to be, we leave it up the dedicated masses to tell us what it actually is.
It sits at the entryway to the courtyard of the San Marcos Building, home of a long-been vacant restaurant at 1129 State Street. The last restaurant in the courtyard before an almost-forgotten remodel was Restaurant Nu. Before that, there was a restaurant named 1129.
The thing, that looks like a light post, but seems to be just a kiosk, sits in a little low-hedged alcove in the sidewalk along State Street. You practically run into this structure as you exit Peet's. It is across the street from the Siqueiros mural in front of the Art Museum.
It's possible that there's a similar structure elsewhere on State, but that wouldn't be the one shown here.
Two Edhat subscribers, Patrick and J Mac, correctly identified the location of the kiosk. To award the winning t-shirt, the Edhat dog was asked to choose between two pieces of popcorn that were placed within equal distances of her curious nose. Without hesitation, she chose the piece on her right that had been previously identified with J Mac. J Mac wins an Edhat t-shirt, pickupable at Santa Barbara Arts.
